At his massive rally in Conroe, Texas, former President Donald Trump said that we should send troops to the southern border before sending them to Ukraine. Russian President Putin, not known for saying things of importance that turn out to be false, made a very assertive statement that he isn’t planning to invade Ukraine with Russian troops. What he wants to do is to make sure Europe and the United States doesn’t admit Ukraine into the NATO alliance, since having a massive troop buildup on the border of Russia would make it easier for Russia to be attacked without the ability to properly defend itself without threatening the use of unconventional weapons (nuclear). In fact, when Trump was president he made sure that European countries added their fair share to the defense of Europe through the NATO treaty, and didn’t expand its reach past Poland, as he had a better understanding with President Putin than Biden and the European leaders have had since January 2021.
