As we look ahead to the future of America’s energy policy, it’s important to prioritize the responsible development of our domestic resources. That’s why I believe in allowing drilling for oil and natural gas across the United States, including in previously untapped areas like ANWR and Prudhoe Bay. We must also ensure that we have the infrastructure in place to efficiently transport these resources to the places they’re needed most, which is why I support the completion of the XL pipeline and the construction of other pipelines to help make delivery easier and more efficient.
At the same time, we must be mindful of the potential impact that energy development can have on the environment. While fracking for natural gas is an important part of our energy mix, we must ensure that it is done responsibly and with appropriate safeguards in place to protect our air and water quality.
I believe in balancing our need for energy with our obligation to protect the natural world around us. That’s why I am committed to removing wind turbines from areas where they pose a threat to migrating whales, and I will not tolerate any harm to our national symbol, the American Bald Eagle. As we move forward with our energy policy, we must always be mindful of the impact that our actions have on the environment and take steps to minimize any negative effects.
