Okay, so here’s the deal with the Speaker of the House of Representatives in Washington D.C. To become Speaker, you need to get at least 218 votes, which is half of the total body. So far, Republican Congressman Kevin McCarthy has been trying to win the Speakership, but he needs about 20 more Republicans to vote for him to get the job.
But here’s the thing: McCarthy has said he’s not giving up, and I think he’ll eventually win the job. It might take a few rounds of voting, but I believe he’ll get there in the end.
Now, the holdouts who haven’t voted for McCarthy yet might be looking for certain leadership roles within the House, like being the chair of a committee. And that’s totally fine – I think it’ll actually make the House stronger if each of the 20 members who haven’t voted for McCarthy yet get the positions they want.
I have a lot of faith in McCarthy, though. He’s a smart guy, and he’s always been fighting for America. I can’t wait to see what he does with the Speaker job once he gets it.
